Undergraduates

  • The Summer Pre-Graduate Research Experience (SPGRE) Program – a ten-week summer research program accommodating a wide-range of majors for undergraduate students from institutions across the nation.  To date, 700 students have participated in SPGRE and more than 70 percent pursue graduate studies with more than 100 who have received the Ph.D. degree. 
  • Research support stipends starting at $2,000/semester for PhD-bound undergraduates
  • Matching of students with research at the renowned Odum Institute for Research in Social Science and the internationally known Carolina Population Center, as well as other participating departments (listed below.)

Graduates

  • Up to $4000 in Research Assistantship Stipend Top-up or Supplement for entering PhD students
  • Supplemental research stipend support for entering SBE Ph.D. students, and summer research support for SBE Ph.D. students between their first and second year
  • Up to $6000 Research Assistantship Stipend
  • Statistical Methods Summer Institute for Entering PhD students:  class and housing costs provided
