THE NATIONAL SOCIAL, BEHAVIORAL, AND ECONOMIC SCIENCES
STATISTICAL INSTITUTE
Introduction
to Data Analysis
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill
July 18-24, 2010
This workshop is being hosted by the
University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill AGEP and in
collaboration with the Odum
Institute for Research in Social Science, the nation's
oldest multidisciplinary social science university institute.
This workshop will be the second National SBES Alliance Workshop. After much success for the AC-SBE Alliance students, the AC-SBE Alliance and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has opened the workshop to the National SBES Alliances.
The workshop is intended for graduate students needing ENTRY-LEVEL
STATISTICS. Introduction to Data Analysis for the Social
Sciences familiarizes students with basic concepts to ease their
transition into their respective SBE disciplines. The workshop
provides an introduction to statistical software and data
manipulation. The format consists of lecture/discussions and
hands-on activities in a teaching computer lab.
Additionally, there are a variety of social activities,
primarily to promote inter institutional student bonding.
In order to determine if you
need this workshop, please take the following practice test. The
practice test will open in a web page, we suggest printing it out and
taking it with a pencil. We also suggest only viewing answers
after completion of the exam to accurately determine if you are in need
of the workshop.
