 
Fifth Annual NC OPT-ED Alliance Day, held in Greensboro, NC at the Koury Convention Center on September 22, 2006, showcased 81 poster presentations and 30 oral presentations from North Carolina high school, undergraduate, and graduate students.
Over 800 students, faculty, and staff attended this national conference.

Two 2006 SPGRE participants at UNC Chapel Hill, Allison Mathews and Cleo Samuel presented their summer research projects at the 12th Annual MURAP Conference, July 21-22, 2006. Ms. Mathews, a senior studying Sociology at Howard University, worked with Dr. Philip Cohen, and Ms. Samuel, a senior studying psychology at the University of Miami, worked with Dr. Beth Kurtz-Costes.
